Record attendance at the 6th Annual Saskatchewan Equine Expo at Prairieland Park

SASKATOON, Saskatchewan – Prairieland Park organizers and the Saskatchewan Equine Expo committee would like to thank their partners The Saskatchewan Horse Federation and the Western College of Veterinary Medicine, along with all the sponsors, the media and volunteers that helped to make the 6th Annual Saskatchewan Equine Expo such an amazing success.
The 6th Annual Equine Expo achieved a record attendance with 11,725 people taking in the 4 day show.

The Saskatchewan Equine Expo showcases many elements of the Equine industry through demonstrations, clinics, competitions, awards and an industry trade show.
We’d like to thank our three incredible trainers for their entertaining performances, and congratulate Kade Mills from Sundre, Alberta being named the winner of the NAERIC Trainer Challenge. Both Glenn Stewart and Dale Clearwater captivated the audience demonstrating their expertise in Natural Horsemanship demonstrations and a Working Cow Horse clinic this year.

Congratulations to our winner of the Ultimate Cow Horse Competition, Geoff Hoar, Red Deer Country, Alberta. The Battle of the Breeds was a highlight for the audience watching 6 breeds compete in 4 events to determine the overall winner – Team Quarter Horse was awarded 1st place, followed by Team Arabian in 2nd place and Team Andalusian in 3rd place.

“The weather definitely cooperated with us this year and we are so pleased that the 6th Equine Expo again attracted such an enthusiastic and knowledgeable crowd”, commented Lori Cates, Agriculture Manager.

Crowds Enjoy Fifth Annual Saskatchewan Equine Expo

Saskatoon Prairieland Park Corporation in partnership with the Saskatchewan Horse Federation and the Western College of Veterinary Medicine are very pleased with the attendance for 5th Annual Saskatchewan Equine Expo.  In excess of 9000 horse enthusiasts attended the events in both the Prairieland Ag Centre and the Trade and Convention Centre over the 4-day event.

Throughout the weekend, attendees were able to take part in a variety of seminars and demonstrations presented by the Western College of Veterinary Medicine;  world renowned horsemen, Jonathon Field; crowd favorite Connie Dorsch; and Cowboy Dressage expert, Lyn Ringrose- Moe.

The ‘free’ Thursday evening brought over 500 people to watch the Trainers Challenge participants choose their horse and work with them for the first of their 4 hour sessions. Friday and Saturday evening’s Equine Extravaganza thrilled a sold out audience that featured the first Equine Expo Hunter Derby and modified Nations Cup Competitions.  The Flying C’s Trick Riders awed the crowd with their daring routine and demonstration of outstanding horsemanship.

The Trainer’s Challenge, sponsored by NAERIC, drew large crowds for every performance and on Sunday evening Seth Abrahamson, from Broderick, Saskatchewan was named the winner.  Seth was presented with a beautiful hand-made buckle from Bill Wilm from St. Brieux, SK.  Team Quarter Horse won the Battle of the Breeds competition for the 3rd year in a row.

“Equine Expo has become the premier equine event in Saskatchewan and we would like to thank everyone who came out!  Crowds are so enthusiastic and interested in all aspects of the weekend events. A big thanks to the members of the Saskatchewan Horse Federation who did an outstanding job on the new educational display and to the Western College of Veterinary Medicine for their continued support.” – Lori Cates, Agriculture Manager.
